In life we are tested for our level of commitment, and its greatest rewards are reserved for those who stove, endured and persevered until the end. The people who succeed are the people who believe they can do it, notwithstanding the obstacles and circumstances.
On April 27, 2008, 35 single men and women who joined the CFC – Singles for Christ Christian Life Program (SFC-CLP) in Dampas District proved this to be true. They have finally finished the 13-Sunday sessions of CLP no matter what it takes. No amount of difficulties hindered them from coming every Sunday until the 13th Sunday. They have demonstrated what it takes to be real single men and women for Christ as they dedicated themselves to SFC, which is one of the family ministries of the Couples for Christ.
The Dedication Day was the end of the CLP but it also marked the beginning of a true Christian service, which is being a Single for Christ. As what Fr. Julian Lupot, the Mass Celebrant said, “being in the Ministry is a calling (vocation) and a responsibility. Challenges lie ahead but only by Divine grace and human faith can we successfully carry out our responsibility. Above all, it is important to have love and commitment in our hearts as God is Himself Love, only then can a ‘dedication’ be real and acceptable.”
A similar message was echoed by Kuya Amit Yu as he spoke about Transformation in Christ– not a physical transformation but a spiritual one. He also talked about real human experiences of transformation which may be impossible as far as human understanding is concerned. It is only through God that all these things may be made possible.
Each one was allowed to contemplate until he/she was ready to dedicate himself/herself to SFC. Kuya Amit and the leaders of SFC led the group in reading the Covenant Card which embodied the commitment of each single for Christ.
After the Dedication, there was a fellowship – a sharing of personal experiences and testimony; sharing of laughters and tears, and of course, sharing of food. This was one exciting part because of the varied food that was set on the table. The fellowship reminded us of Christ during the Last Supper – He who gave Himself up as a Living Bread so that “whoever believes in Him shall have an everlasting life.” (John 3:16) Making the Dedication Day more special is the giving of gifts (The Bible), a real manifestation of the sharing of Christ amidst them.
